In September 2009, the Department of General Education and Language Studies was formed through the amalgamation of three bodies: the Language Unit of CBCC, the General Education Unit and the Department of Language Studies under both SFU and CBCC. The Department with its objectives to encompass both Chinese and Western cultures and explore the opportunities of humanism is committed to enhance the students’ proficiency in bi-lingual and tri-literacy so as for them to become intelligent communication practitioners in today’s complex and ever changing society. It, therefore, offers a variety of programmes to cater for the needs of different students at various levels: Diploma of General Studies and Higher Diploma programmes in many disciplines, through which students are able to enhance their professional knowledge, foster their ethics, uphold the sense of service, and strengthen the team leadership spirit, materializing the holistic education at the end.
